Dear School Owner:

Call for Nominations for the Advisory Committee

The National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences is seeking six individuals, in addition to two currently seated Commissioners, who are willing to serve on the NACCAS Advisory Committee on the Standards and Criteria. The categories of individuals we are seeking nominations for are listed below.

PURPOSE:

The NACCAS Committee on the Standards and Criteria was established in January 2000 to conduct a systematic program of review designed to ensure that the NACCAS Standards and Criteria, policies, and procedures are valid and reliable indicators of quality education provided in NACCAS accredited schools and are relevant to the education of affected students. The Committee has also been given the charge of reviewing NACCAS’ Quality and Control Studies on the NACCAS Rules of Practice and Procedure. From time to time, the committee may also carry out other research projects as directed by the Commission.

Prior to 2000, NACCAS contracted with third-party firms to conduct validity and reliability studies on its Standards and Criteria and Rules of Practice and Procedure. While these studies were valuable, the Commission maintains that an independent advisory committee, composed of individuals with a broad understanding of cosmetology arts and sciences and education, would be better able to evaluate and comment on the effectiveness of the Standards and Criteria and procedures are sufficiently rigorous to ensure that accredited institutions are providing quality education to its students. The Commission wishes to stress that participation in the nomination process is welcomed and encouraged!
