Dear School Owner:

A number of you have asked NACCAS to draft a sample policy and notice for you to adapt for your compliance with the FTC Safeguards Rules (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Privacy Act). Postsecondary schools of cosmetology are considered to be subject to these rules by virtue of their brokering or administering information for student loans or grants.

However, they may be adjusted after a training the FTC is offering. They are included here as you may wish to submit your own questions at one of the trainings, scheduled for June 9 from 10-11 am EST and June 23 from 2-3 pm EST. The FTC encourages you to participate by telephone. Instructions on how to dial in will be posted on the FTC's website at www.ftc.gov one day in advance of each presentation.
